Γεννήθηκε στην Αλεξανδρούπολη, στην Θρακική Ακτή, λίγα χιλιόμετρα ανατολικά των Αβδύρων, τον τόπο γέννησης του Πρωταγόρα και του Δημόκριτου.

Άρχισε σπουδές στην ιατρική σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου της Πίζας. Ευρισκόμενος στην Ελλάδα την περίοδο των φοιτητικών κινητοποιήσεων ενάντια στην δικτατορία αναγκάστηκε, διωκόμενος, 22 ετών να διαφύγει στην Ιταλία, όπου εκπροσώπησε πολιτικά το Πανελλήνιο Απελευθερωτικό Κίνημα (ΠΑΚ). Αντιστασιακή οργάνωση ενάντια στην χούντα των συνταγματαρχών, υπό την ηγεσία του Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου.

Μετά την πτώση της δικτατορίας συμμετείχε στην ιδρυτική ομάδα του Πανελλήνιου Σοσιαλιστικού Κινήματος (ΠΑΣΟΚ), του οποίου συνέγραψε την ιδρυτική διακήρυξη.

Αποτέλεσε επί δεκαετίες μια κριτική εναλλακτική πρόταση για την πορεία του κόμματος και της κυβέρνησης, η οποία δικαιώθηκε ιστορικά.

Αρνήθηκε να γίνει υπουργός, γιατί θεωρούσε την ολική υπουργοποίηση της ηγεσίας ενός πολιτικού κινήματος αφετηρία παθολογιών στο πολιτικό σύστημα και την Δημοκρατία. Το γνωστό φαινόμενο κρατικοποίησης του κόμματος και κομματικοποίησης του κράτους.

Οι σπουδές του, μετά την επιστροφή της Δημοκρατίας στην Ελλάδα, άλλαξαν και επικεντρώθηκαν στην Πολιτική Επιστήμη και την Κοινωνιολογία (μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές) στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Ρώμης.

Στα πλαίσιο του Ιδρύματος Μεσογειακών Μελετών, αλλά και ιδιωτικά επεξεργάστηκε ζητήματα του ελληνικού, εθνικού, κοινωνικού και οικονομικού σχηματισμού με μια προσέγγιση τόσο αυτόχθονη, όσο και πλανητική.

Το 1994 το Ελληνικό Κοινοβούλιο υιοθέτηση την πρότασή του, καθιερώνοντας την 19η Μαϊου, ως Ημέρα Μνήμης της Ποντιακής Γενοκτονίας.

Τρία χρόνια αργότερα, το 1997, το Ελληνικό Κοινοβούλιο υιοθέτησε επίσης την πρότασή του για τη δημιουργία μιας νέας πόλης στα παράλια της Θράκης, με το όνομα ΡΩΜΑΝΙΑ.

Παρ’ όλο που συγκέντρωσε την μεγαλύτερη πλειοψηφία που υπήρξε ποτέ στο Ελληνικό Κοινοβούλιο και την ομόφωνη αποδοχή της κοινής γνώμης, ο τότε πρωθυπουργός την ακύρωσε.

Το σχέδιο αυτό συγκέντρωσε το ενδιαφέρον πολεοδομικών και αρχιτεκτονικών σχολών στη Γερμανία, την Ιταλία, Κεντρική και Νότια Αμερική.

Επί δεκαετίες, 1982-2008, δραστηριοποιήθηκε διεθνώς σε πρωτοβουλίες αλληλεγγύης προς τους Λαούς που αγωνίζονταν για την ελευθερία τους, αλλά και τους λαούς που υπέστησαν πολιτικές γενοκτόνας βίας, στα πλαίσια μιας μεγάλου κύρους Μη Κυβερνητικής Οργάνωσης για τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα, αναγνωρισμένης από τον ΟΗΕ: Της Διεθνούς Ένωσης για τα Δικαιώματα και την Απελευθέρωση των Λαών. Πρωταγωνίστησε στην εισαγωγή του ζητήματος της ΑΡΜΕΝΙΚΗΣ ΚΑΙ ΤΗΣ ΠΟΝΤΙΑΚΗΣ ΓΕΝΟΚΤΟΝΙΑΣ στον ΟΗΕ.

Η οργάνωση αυτή συγκέντρωσε ό,τι καλύτερο είχε η παγκόσμια, ανθρωπιστική και προοδευτική διανόηση.

Το 1986 έκανε την πρώτη παρέμβαση στην επιτροπή του ΟΗΕ για τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα (Γενεύη), για Κουρδικό Ζήτημα και απειλήθηκε γι’ αυτό η ζωή του από το καθεστώς της Άγκυρας. Για όλα αυτά τα ζητήματα, τόσο τα αναπτυξιακά, όσο και τα διεθνή, καλείται για διαλέξεις σε ευρωπαϊκά πανεπιστήμια και σε τοπικούς περιφερειακούς θεσμούς στην Ελλάδα.
