Ο εντοπισμός, η συγκέντρωση και η αξιολόγηση των ιστορικών πηγών επαφίεται στην κρίση όχι βέβαια μόνο της επιστημονικής κοινότητας, αλλά και της κοινής γνώμης η οποία οφείλει να διαμορφώνεται με δείκτη κοινωνικό και γνώμονα πατριωτικό.

Η έννοια της φιλοπατρίας, όπως τέθηκε ειδικότερα από τη Γαλλική και την Ελληνική Επανάσταση δεν αναφέρεται στον εθνικισμό αλλά στη διαμόρφωση της εθνικής ταυτότητας, κάτι που είναι απαραίτητο πλέον στοιχείο ισοτιμίας σε μια πολυπολιτισμική εποχή όπως η σημερινή. Πρόκειται για μια ταυτότητα που δεν βασίζεται σε πρόσκαιρες εντυπώσεις και πρόχειρες «συγχρονικότητες» αλλά που σταθεροποιείται σε δράσεις και μνήμες, εμπειρίες προσωπικές και βιώματα συλλογικά.

Η διάσωση των εμπειριών αυτών είναι όρος απαραίτητος και προϋπόθεση sine qua non για την αποτίμηση του τι έγινε και, κυρίως, για την προοπτική της προσωπικής ευθύνης του τι θα γίνει, του τι έπεται. Στη δυναμική της Εθνικής Αντίστασης δεν αρμόζει εγχείρημα αγιογραφίας αυτή καθ’ εαυτήν η ύπαρξή της δηλώνει και περιγράφει την οντότητά της.

Ωστόσο, όπως είναι γνωστό, κοινωνικά απτό και ιδεολογικά φορτισμένο (καθ’ όλα, πάντως, λυπηρό), η συνείδηση (μάλλον η εξέγερση των συνειδήσεων) αντιμετωπίστηκε –υπό το βάρος μεταγενέστερων δραματικών εξελίξεων και μετεμφυλιακών συνδρόμων– ως μη όφειλε. Αντίσταση έκανε κάθε έλληνας και ελληνίδα που αγωνίστηκε οργανωμένα εναντίον των κατοχικών στρατευμάτων ή έδρασε ατομικά με οποιονδήποτε τρόπο εναντίον αυτών και των συνεργατών τους.

Αριστείδης Μπλούτσος

Ευτυχώς δε ουδείς εκ των Ιταλών ομήρων έπαθεν ουδέν. Τους αιχμαλώτους υγιείς ή τραυματίας κατευθύναμεν προς το χωρίον και τους συνεκεντριωσαμεν εντός τον σχολείου, όπου τους παρεσχέθη θερμόν ρόφημα, φαγητόν και περίθαλψις υγειονομική εις τους τραυματίας χρησιμοποιηθέντων προς τούτο του Ιατρού και των νοσοκόμων τον τάγματος.

Βασίλης Παπαδήμας

Ο παπάς του χωριού Πούλιος Αθανάσιος βγάζει το πετραχήλι, φιλά ευλαβικά το Ευαγγέλιο, αφήνει το δισκοπότηρο, αρπάζει το ντουφέκι, κάνει την προσευχή του και τρέχει ρασοφορεμένος να προλάβει.Για τούτο οι αιχμάλωτοι Ιταλοί λέγανε: «πολλοί παπάδες παρτιζάνοι αφού υπήρχαν και πολλοί γενειοφόροι».

Στις 11 το πρωί ο Αδαμάντιος που γνώριζε ιταλικά μίλησε στους αιχμάλωτους μαζί με το Μαχιά και τους ανακοινώθηκε πως οι Έλληνες ξέρουν και να τιμωρούν και επειδή γνωρίζουν ότι η μεγαλύτερη τιμωρία είναι να συγχωράς τους αντιπάλους, αυτό κάναμε και εμείς οι αντάρτες ελευθερωτές της πατρίδας μας.Την ίδια μέρα άνδρες των δεκαρχιών συνόδευσαν τους αιχμαλώτους μέχρι το Μουργκάνι για να επιστρέψουν στην Καλαμπάκα.

Στέργιος Γιαννούλας

Επί 39 χρόνια αν έλεγες ότι συμμετείχες σε αυτή τη μάχη εθεωρείσο ότι ήσουν EAMOΒούλγαρος, ανθέλληνας και εναντίον του έθνους.

Μιχάλης Κοσβύρας

Πήγαμε και εμείς από το χωριό μας, περίπου δεκαπέντε νέοι, με ό,τι όπλο μπορούσε ο καθένας να εξοικονομήσει και με μόνο πεντ'-έξι σφαίρες, γιατί τα όπλα δεν ήταν όλα του ιδίου τύπου μαλιχέρ, μαουζέρ κ.ά.
